Platteview High School’s annual fall play is coming up soon. Director Shannon Clayton plans for her team’s production of The Miracle Worker to show at 1:30 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. on October 27th, 2018.

Mrs. Clayton describes William Gibson’s play The Miracle Worker as “the story of Annie Sullivan and how she [travels] to Alabama to teach Helen Keller (who is famously known for being deaf and blind). practicing for their upcoming performances. “I am most excited for the opportunity to perform something different. [The Miracle Worker] is a period piece, it’s well-known, and there is a lot of physicality [among actors/actresses],” says Clayton.

Cast member Louden Ferguson will be portraying Captain Keller, Helen Keller’s father. “Almost everyone [in the cast] is doing a general southern dialect for their character, and I love [accents],” says Ferguson. “[It will be challenging] to stay in character for a couple of scenes.”

Director of the crew, Jacob Beier, says “I think [this year’s set] will be really interesting, because we are trying to create a two story house and an outside [area].” The crew already has many plans for the production’s set design, including multiple scene changes. “I want to make sure this set is great the first time through. Last year we had [some complications], and I hope to improve the [overall] safety.”
