Platteview Cross Country runners started their season at the “Class of the Metro” meet at Papillion Lavista-South on Saturday, August 31. Girls Varsity Runners, Madison Nash, Emma Middleton, Claire Kalhoff, and Ally Kuhl all placed in their respective races. Boys Varsity Runner, Evan Vertuli placed sixteenth in his race. 

Senior Claire Kalhoff stated, “It was a very fun first meet and way to kick off the season.” 

 

 

 

 

Platteview Cross Country went back on the road on Friday, September 6. They competed at the Johnson County Central meet in Techumseh, Nebraska. Girls Varsity Runners, Madison Nash, Emma Middleton, and Ally Kuhl, placed first, eighth, and tenth. The Girls Varsity team was also named the runner-up in team rankings. Boys Varsity Runners, Evan Vertuli, Kaden Skarda, and Ryan Tolliver, placed seventh, tenth, and fourteenth. The Boys Varsity team was also named the runner-up in team rankings. 

The team is off to a very impressive start, given that they are one of the smallest Class B Cross Country teams in the state.

 Senior Reed Lenker stated, “My goals for the season are to improve my times, bond with the team, and most importantly continue to compete with the bigger schools.”

 In years past, the Cross Country team has done well competitively. The girls and boys have attended state within the past 3 years. They are also looking to continue their state streak this year. The team is ready to compete in the season to come and bring home some hardware for Platteview.
