Between March 2nd through 6th, 2020, both Westmont and Springfield Elementary Schools celebrated “Read Across America,” a day in which the power of reading is recognized by schools across America. In doing so, Westmont and Springfield Elementary Schools focused on books by Dr. Seuss.

At Westmont Elementary, the students and teachers alike were able to partake in different themes, including hat day and twin day. On Thursday and Friday, the students and parents could participate in a Dr. Seuss inspired breakfast.

Senior Lindsey Hutfless read to Westmont Elementary students on Tuesday, March 5th as part of the week’s celebrations.

Tuesday morning, Platteview students began their day at Westmont elementary. They read books to the young students, including some Dr. Seuss classics. According to senior Laura Kinney, “I had a lot of fun. They kept asking me to read more books.”

Springfield Elementary celebrated the week through inviting guest readers. They also had a Donuts with Grown-Ups event on Monday, where students read and ate donuts with their guests.
