Platteview’s JV Football team welcomes a new coach to lead them to success for the 2024-2025 school year. Coach Will Smith may be new to Platteview, but he arrives with five years of experience from Bellevue West. Coach Smith specializes in working to improve the team’s wide receivers, corners, defense and coverage.
The JV Football team embraced the change with open arms. His players openly appreciate his motivation throughout practice. Pierce Miller shared, “My favorite part about his coaching style is he’s very encouraging. Even if we make a play we don’t feel confident about he’s always cheering us on.”
Not only do his athletes appreicate Smith’s presence, the head coach, Mark McLaughlin does as well. McLaughlin explains “Coach Smith has found the line between pushing our younger kids to be their best while still being patient as they make mistakes and grow. JV and Reserve level football is pretty sloppy the first few weeks of the season. Coach Smith is a tremendously patient man, and his positivity keeps the team’s spirits high as they learn.”
