As summer break comes to an end, many students are anxious to start the 2024-2025 school year. However, not all aspects of the start of the new year are negative. Platteview students were asked to instead describe what they are looking forward to most this year.
One of the first events that Trojans think of at the beginning of the year is Spirit Week. It is a time leading up to Homecoming for students to join together in school-wide activities and competitions. Michael Quinn (11) commented, “I am most excited for the dodgeball tournament during Homecoming week and all the other activities.”
New sports are being added to this year at Platteview, such as boy’s tennis. It is an exciting experience for boys to show talent in a sport they did not have the opportunity to do last year. Tony Guerrero (11) explained, “I love our boys tennis team. We’ve been putting in so much work this summer and school year, it is just amazing to see how far all of the team has grown.”
Many students here at Platteview High School have many goals they want to accomplish. Even during their senior year, there is so much to achieve and so much to be proud of. Chloe Fryar (12) speaks on her experience, “I would love to improve over all here at Platteview. I want to improve in softball, dance, and academics. I would like to continue to stay in the National Honors Society and be hard on myself to push myself to my limits for everything here including my sports.”
As students complete more and more prerequisite classes, they are able to take on more advanced classes, such as more intricate Woods, Welding, and Arts classes. Macy Czech (12) eagerly exclaimed, “I’m so excited for advanced art. Having a creative class in my schedule makes my day better, and the freedom in advanced art to create whatever you want sounds amazing.”
There are so many courses and extracurriculars that Platteview offers that students can participate in. From Football to One Act, Cross Country to Future Problem Solvers, there is an activity at Platteview for everyone. Each and every Trojan has the opportunity to look forward to during the day, turning students’ worries into excitement.
