Spirit Week is perhaps one of the most anticipated weeks of school, and for good reason. Students are brought together through dress-up days and games during the school day, getting to miss classes to have fun. Trojans’ competitive side is uncovered, with dodgeball teams from each grade facing off to see who is the best of the best. The 2024-2025 school year is no different, students and teachers alike anticipating the eventful days ahead.
Monster Monday
Spirit Week kicked off with the classic ‘How Well Do You Know PHS Staff?” trivia game during 4th period, resulting in the seniors pulling ahead of the juniors by only two points. Trojans were encouraged to dress up in their fun Halloween costumes, and costumes such as Captain America, Chester Cheeto, witches, pirates, and the Chick-fil-A mascot could be seen roaming the halls.
Twisted Twin Tuesday
The second day of the week was the day of the duos, with Trojans dressing up to twin with a friend. Filled with festivities galore, Tuesday also kicked off the first dodgeball match between the grades, the seniors facing down the sophomores. During 2nd and 7th periods, “Name That Tune” and the class relays took place, as well as Mario Kart and chess competitions. Tuesday evening, the volleyball team celebrated their Dig Pink event from 5-7 pm.
Walking Dead Wednesday
Wednesday was declared the beloved pajama day, encouraging Trojans to wear comfy and fun pjs and onesies. The final tournaments for Mario Kart and chess were battled out during advisory. During 3rd period, Platteview’s juniors and freshmen went head to head, and the undefeated Junior girls dodgeball team had their sights set on going 3 for 3. The annual Homecoming Parade was held at 7:00 pm that night.
Trick or Treat Thursday
Trojans were encouraged to bring anything but a backpack on this spirit-filled Thursday. During 6th hour, the karaoke performance competition was held in the auditorium, voted on by the students’ cheers. Dodgeball continued, each team fighting to survive to the finals.
Class Colors Friday
Friday is the day for class colors to be seen in the stands: white for freshmen, navy sophomores, red juniors, and black for seniors. The much-anticipated pep rally was at the end of the day. The dodgeball finals commenced, a battle between the best of the best. The Homecoming game was Friday evening, with the Homecoming court coronation immediately afterwards.
