Students at Platteview collect dozens of memories that will linger with them beyond high school. From getting a good grade on an important test to festivities such as homecoming week, these moments have a lasting impact on Platteview Trojans. For the class of 2025, this is no different. As the next wave of students prepare to leave the Trojan nest, many are reflecting on memories that continue to bring a smile to their face.
One’s peers have a crucial role in his or her high school experience. Alanna Clontz (12) described, “After football games, my friends Joslyn and Macy would all go to one of our cars and just yap about anything and everything. They are truly some of my best friends and this school has given me more than I could’ve imagined when I moved here sophomore year.” So many priceless memories are derived from their friendships. These moments, although seemingly insignificant at the time, are often the ones that endure the test of time and remain vivid in one’s mind for years to come.
Extracurricular activities and athletics commonly bring impactful memories to fruition. Trojan athlete Dillon Romans (12) stated, “A memory that comes to mind when I think of the best moments during high school was the bus rides to sporting events with the boys.” Sports and clubs are well known for bringing students together and building close-knit bonds between peers.
Many Platteview Trojans work tirelessly to uphold good grades, and fulfilling their academic goals can create a lasting sense of accomplishment and satisfaction. For example, Joslyn Klusaw (12) received a perfect score on her precalculus final. She commented, “I worked so hard throughout the semester, and I studied for hours before the test. It felt amazing to see all my hard work pay off.”
Sentimental memories are not the only moments that linger with Platteview’s seniors – humorous reminiscences are just as unforgettable. Homecoming week is famous for such events. Presley Smith (12) noted, “I will never forget when the senior girls dressed up as famous bald people for HOCO week.” At the beginning of the year when students’ spirits and energies are high, anything is possible. Similarly, Siena Thompson (12) added, “One fond memory I have is getting to experience all of the Homecoming week festivities such as dodgeball and the parade.”
“I vividly remember sticking a chair to the ceiling in Mr. Craney’s room,” remarked senior Dawson Williams. Even just brief moments like these have a positive lasting impact on Platteview Trojans.
High school is renowned for its abundance of unforgettable experiences, ranging from sentimental times with friends to laugh-out-loud moments with the entire school. As maturing Trojans get older, life seems to move faster and faster. But it’s the memories that they make along the way that stick with them forever. In the end, it’s the memories that students create that truly define the richness of one’s life.
