Many Platteview High School students participate in clubs such as Speech, ITS, NHS, Quizbowl, Mock Trial, Art club, and many more. Each student has the ability to experience different aspects of these clubs, getting a feel for each one as they grow and find what they’re passionate about.
Platteview’s multi-club students include but is not limited to Trojan seniors Nash Amick, Kasch Spencer, Nathan Becerra, Chloe Fryar, Katherine Fryar, Kinsley Johnston, Lillian Krebs, Lauren Songster, and Alaina Nelson. Some even recall being enticed into joining a certain club by an older student or the promise of snacks by the sponsor of that club. What’s better than the promise of cookies and candy to join?
Even now as the school year nears to a close and Seniors are getting ready to move on to the next chapter of their lives they pass on their own knowledge and experiences to the next generation of Trojans of each club. Kate Martin (12), Ada Heneger (12), Clara Guenther (12), and Jude Perry (12) lead by example. Every one of these Seniors show great leadership and dedication through their perseverance.
As Kate Martin (12) explains that she is proud of, “Becoming a leader in all that I do, and even though it seems hard to manage, I always enjoy finding a balance and making all my interests come together as one.” She has helped many throughout the seasons with her cheerful personality and sassy remarks, always keeping the mood light with a hint of laughter through stressful situations.
They are not only leaders but they are also participants spending countless hours practicing, composing, and performing their own work. Ada Heneger (12) has won multiple awards in Speech and one memory she fondly recalls has to be, “The first time I got first place in poetry in the first meet of Speech. Getting to see my team so excited and my sponsor for my first win and getting to hug my mother.”
