Hollywood movies–especially Disney movies–are often a staple of one’s childhood. Films such as Bolt, Lilo & Stitch, The Incredibles, Cars, and The Princess and the Frog all had a lasting impact on children’s imaginations. The popular movie High School Musical, starring celebrity Zac Efron, is no different. As the 2024-2025 school year wraps up, Platteview seniors share what their own high school musical would look like.
The first step to turning your life into a movie is experiencing that iconic main character moment. Whether it’s a life-changing event or a daily routine, anyone can feel like their own protagonist. “Sometimes when I’m walking down the hall it feels that way. Or when I’m on my way home from school or practice with my music blasting and my windows open,” mentioned Senior Lydia Stewart. Iliana Spencer (12) added, “Going to the senior sunset with my friends felt like a montage from a teen movie, especially when I saw the senior prank happening.” It’s moments like these in real life that can give Trojans the renowned montage scene feeling from their favorite films.

Cheesy Disney musicals all have the classic “characters bursting out into song” scene. Macy Czech (12) declared that, if she was offered a million dollars in exchange for doing the same, she would, “totally bust out singing “Die Young” by Kesha because that song offers a good opportunity to also stomp very loudly on top of a table with its drum beats. I figure, if I’m belting out a song, I might as well go big! :).” She’s not just breaking into song, she’s breaking the status quo. When life turns into a musical, you might as well make it loud, proud, and Kesha-approved.
After all, if you’re going to burst into song, you might as well do it with glitter, gusto, and a little bit of chaos.
