Movies are coming out all the time, and it can be difficult to choose from all the options. But fret not, PHS – we asked two movie and entertainment experts, Maren and Marlee Ferguson (two PHS seniors), their thoughts and recommendations on Fall 2025 movies.
With about 40 movies in their summer rolodex, the Fergusons know what they’re talking about. According to Marlee, Pride and Prejudice (2005) is a must see. She says, “Some literary works are timeless and will leave the audience wanting it again and again.”
She also recommends Knives Out (2019), live-action Cinderella (2015), Megamind (2010), and The Princess Bride (1987). Marlee’s favorite genre is murder mystery. She says it “tickles my brain to see the mystery unfold.” If you are a fan of murder mystery’s, you will definitely like Knives Out. In order to fully enjoy these flicks, she recommends watching movies at home with family and friends.
Maren recommends more recent murder mysteries such as Death on the Nile (2022)and Sinners (2025). Her must-watch movie is Harry Potter: The Deathly Hallows Part 2 (2011). Maren reflected on the wise words from Dumbledore, “Words are, in my not-so-humble opinion, our most inexhaustible source of magic. Capable of both inflicting injury and remedying it.” She says Dumbledore’s advice,“spoke to me especially because I am a writer and find great meaning in words.”
