Platteview High School has new teachers starting in the Fall of 2025. While they bring years of experience and talent, they are brand new Trojans.
Mr. Veltre is one of the new Science teachers in the 2025-2026 school year. It’s his fifth year teaching. Some fun facts about Mr Veltre is that he has a hedgehog named Tilly and a beagle named Daphne. He also enjoys boxing during his free time. His goal is to provide others with the experience that he had within school and make students’ lives better. His favorite parts about teaching are the daily stories, surprises he collects, and the ability to share his adventures with others.
Ms. Poppe is teaching her first year within the Job for America’s Graduates (JAG) program. Prior to coming to Platteview, she taught in the Ministry. She has worked as a water sports specialist in a resort in Georgia for a summer, been skydiving twice, and ate Guinea pig in Peru earlier this year. She became a teacher because of the role models, and she said that her most enjoyable part about teaching the JAG program was the students she has got to know and the people she gets to work alongside.
Mr. Burbach is the new shop teacher at PHS. This marks his thirty-first year of teaching. He became a teacher because he wanted to make a difference in young adults’ lives. He had teachers who inspired him, and he wanted to do the same for others, inspiring and guiding students to reach their potential. A couple fun facts about him is that has a twin sister and he is following in his mom’s footsteps of being a teacher for over thirty years. He is also an animal lover with two dogs and two cats. His favorite thing about teaching is seeing students’ confidences grow, and he loves seeing the small victories that the students experience.
Mr. Robles is a new science teacher at PHS. He is in his fourteenth year of teaching. He became a teacher due to his natural ability to relate to others. A few fun facts about him is that he has a six-year-old son and a four-year-old daughter. He and his family moved to Springfield two years ago.
