Mother’s Day: Students Recognize Importance of Mothers

Katelyn Grubb, Staff Writer

Mother’s Day is approaching soon; families nationwide plan to honor their mothers on May 13th, 2018. The Charioteer team asked a group of Platteview students to answer a few questions about their mothers to appreciate all the sacrifices their moms have made.

We asked the following PHS students three questions about their mothers and Mother’s Day.
1. What is your mother’s name?
2. What is one great thing they’ve done for you?
3. What would you like to tell your mom this Mother’s Day?

Here is what they had to say –

Pruett Newton
1. Melissa Dickson
2. She goes out of her way to make sure I am happy and reaching my needs.
3. Thank you for always being there for me when I need you. Thank you for telling me that you’re proud of me and that you love me. I feel like I can talk to you about anything without feeling judged. I like that I feel safe with you and can talk to you for hours at a time. You’re a great, hardworking mother, and I’m blessed that God chose me to be your daughter.

Halee Jeffries

I know I’m not a perfect human, but the fact that you don’t discriminate me for sometimes acting like one is the most I could ask for.

3. Mom, I would like you to know how much I appreciate you. I know I oftentimes take you for granted, but thank you. Thank you for everything you do for our family. Thank you for always making sure I have clean clothes for trap, and lunch for school. I love you.

Emily Swierczek

1. Beth Swierczek
2. One of the greatest things that my mother has done and still does for me is filling many roles, both big and small. She is first and foremost my mother, but she doesn’t let that get in the way of being my friend. Whenever I am in trouble, she becomes my defender. If I am confused or troubled, she is my guide. If I need comfort, she is my support and rock. She never leaves my side through any of it.
3. There are many beautiful people in the world, but you are the most beautiful. Remember, beauty isn’t just found on the outside, but on the inside too. When I look at you, I don’t see the flaws that you do, I see past it. I see a strong, brave, kind and caring woman who has faced the world and won. To me, you are forever young, no matter how old we both get. Happy Mother’s Day and here’s many more. I love you.

Shanie Long
1. Tanya Castillo
2. Something my mom does for me is she supports me in everything and she’s always there for me and she always knows how to make me feel better when she’s sad. She’s the one person I can count on in this world the most to always be my number one fan. I’m so thankful to have her as my mom.
3. I love you mom!!!

John Kinney

1. Pahola Kinney
2.My mother was a woman who could not be contained. She was the strongest person I knew, and inspired me to be like her.
3. I would like to tell her that I think about her every day, and that I wish I could hug her again. I would tell her that I have grown stronger because of her death, but I wish it never happened. I love you mom.

Katelyn Grubb
1. Cindy Grubb
2. My mom encourages me to do well in my school work and has inspired me to work hard in everyday situations. She has taught me how to care for others, which is a lesson I am so incredibly grateful for.
