Sweat dropped down the faces of the players on the starting line. The stands quieted, and everyone was on the edge of their seat in anticipation. The whistle blew and a flurry of movement could be seen from the sideline. Blockers shoved the opposing team, quarterback Luke Partusch forcefully launched the ball into the air. Every Friday, he “visualizes himself succeeding on the field” as a pre-game ritual.

Senior quarterback Luke Partusch surveys the scene as Platteview’s defense takes the field. The Trojans came back to win against Lincoln Christian 22-15.

The previous Saturday there was a meeting about how the team could do better on the field. The team went over what they need to improve for the next game. Most players don’t stress about being a starter, because football is a second nature. Tate Patera commented on being a Trojan, “[it’s] not just a label to me. Being a Trojan is a brotherhood…” And it truly means a lot to the rest of the team.

Good luck at the next game, Trojans!
