Platteview High School’s Varsity Cheer Squad held their annual Jr. Cheer Clinic on Friday, October 12th, 2018. The cheer clinic started after school, with the students of the 2018-2019 cheer squad and elementary students(grades kindergarten through sixth grade); they learned routines to preform throughout the night at Platteview’s last home football game. The cheerleaders taught the young participants basic cheer motions and fun new cheers for them to showcase to their parents and the spectators of the football game. The girls were able to learn more about cheer, grow their cheerleading passion, and interact with the cheerleaders they look up to.

There was a positive turnout for the Jr. Cheer Clinic, with 40+ girls from all elementary grades. Kielee Costello, a senior on the Platteview Cheer Squad, told about her experience this year with the young girls: “We had a lot of fun teaching and working with the little girls, and I think they had fun experiencing what cheer is like as a high school student.” The Jr. Cheer Clinic helps make young cheer aspirers develop their technique, love for cheer, and meet new friends with the same interest in cheer.
