On Friday, October 12, 2018 before the opening of our seniors’ last home football game, attendees recognized several members of the 1983 Class B Football Team Champions. Team members included Mark Mann, a senior tight end; Jeff Swantek, a senior tackle; Thomas Hyde, kicker, linebacker, and guard; Steve Isenberg, the teams’ quarterback; Bryant Wheatley, a junior linebacker; and Dale William, a nose guard and self proclaimed “second string tackling dummy.”

The 1983 Platteview team pushed through the season undefeated. That year, they were led by rookie coach Dennis Mahaney. They won the title game 6-0 against Grand Island Central Catholic in an exciting defensive struggle, earning Platteview’s second football championship. In the 2018- 2019 season, Platteview Football  includes new coaches Michael Troy, Gary Wood, and Jordan Bald.
