Photo Essay: Senior Signing Day

As the end of the first quarter is coming up, the seniors are getting closer to graduation. For those going to college, it’s a major life change- and it’s important to choose the right college that best fits each student’s wants. Signing day at Platteview is an event where seniors sign, committing to a college. Platteview had eight people signing on February 6th, 2019: Ian Baker, Josh Fryar, Anna Ganzel, Jordan Hart, Christian Jewell, Caden Johnson, Jordan Mathewson and Caden Mathewson.

Caden Johnson spoke about his plans for college as his peers listened. He will be attending Concordia University for baseball.

Jake Richards, Josh Kalin and Kielee Costello watched as their peers prepared to sign, dedicating themselves to a college.

Anna Ganzel’s family watched as she signed to Doane University for softball.

Jordan and Caden Mathewson signed to Buena Vista University for baseball. “My favorite part was having my friends and family come support me.” Jordan said.

On the tables, after the seniors signed, Balloons representing the college’s colors were on display.

The seniors who signed were treated to cookies in the old commons after the event.

“My favorite part was all of my friends and family being there to support me and reaching a dream of mine that I’ve had since I was little,” Ian Baker said. He plans on going to Nebraska Wesalyn University for football. It was a special moment for Platteview seniors and their families.
