On Friday, September 10th, 2021, Platteview High School students lined their trucks along the side of the school parking lot that faces 108th St. Each truck flew the American flag in tribute to those who lost their lives and loved ones during the attacks on September 11th, 2001.

From watching the trucks pull into the parking lot, to the flags flapping in the air, it was clear to onlookers the importance of the event. Some students directed traffic, helping fellow students back in trucks in file. Teachers and staff members exited their cars, watching the event in silence, remembering that infamous day.

Lexi Renyolds, Jacob Zimmerman, and Duane Coenen, were just a few students who decorated their trucks. Lexi Renyolds said, “We represent the community by honoring the victims of 9/11 and it’s very important to me.”
Alex Glynn, junior at PHS, said, “It was a patriotic event, showing that our school and community cares deeply about the people this country lost, care deeply about remembering them.”
