During the month of October 2021, Project Hope Pack hosted a donation drive to help out children in foster care.  Often times, foster children don’t always have the items that they need. The drive was led by the officers of Platteview National Honor Society (NHS). Platteview students have been dropped off items such as soap, backpacks, hairbrushes, and other essentials.

Ella Falk, the secretary of NHS, said “I would like people to realize the impact they can make with even a small donation. Everything donated helps out these kids.”  The drive ended on October 15th at the end of the school day. The drive collected a few hundred items. Overall, NHS reported that the drive was a success and they plan host another drive next year. “The items that were donated will make a big impact on the kids life,” said Mrs. Lodes, the sponsor of National Honor Society.

In order to encourage students to donate items, the winning advisory won donuts. Coach Mclaughlin’s advisory collected the most items, providing an incredible 90 items to the drive. “Project Hope Pack was a great success and we helped the foster kids in need,” said Ella Falk.
