2022 has been a very successful year for PHS athletes and programs. Recently, several athletes broke school and State records, cementing their place in history. Below are some athletic highlights and accomplishments from the 2021-2022 season.

There were several long-standing records that the class of 2022 broke. Dayton Swanson, the Trojan’s Football Team’s leading receiver, broke the career receptions record of 50. Swanson also grabbed the game-winning touchdown against Boys Town, starting the season with a 2-0 record – a first since 1985.

Elliot Steinhoff broke the receiving yards in a game against Raymond Central. Steinhoff accounted for 167 receiving yards and three touchdowns, a 27-year standing record set by Rob Olander in 1995. Steinhoff also had another incredible year in Trojan Wrestling. He joined the “100 Wins Club” in Wrestling, along with Aiden Riha and Nick Horst.

The Class of 2022 also helped lead their teams to success. The Girls Soccer Team won the Trailblazer Conference. The Trojans won in overtime 2-1 against Ralston. This was the first time the girls had won the conference. This was due in part to the ability, talent, and skill from the senior girls such as Emma Middleton and Alexandria Adams.

Overall, this year’s seniors have had great success, both personally and for their teams. Several seniors will continue to play sports in college, such as Mitchell Rudie, Emma Middleton, and Anthony Scala. Congratulations to this year’s seniors for their success.
