This year has been very exciting for the Platteview Speech Team. With a influx of new members, the Speech Team is looking forward to the year. Last year the speech team only had two members, but this year they have gained six new students. Katlin Musch, senior, said, “I’m super excited! It’s nice to see multiple people doing something I like doing.”   

The Speech Team has gone to three competitions so far in the 2022-2023 season, including competitions at Papillion South High School and Westside High School. Senior Bella McAtee placed in two of her events at the Papillion South High School competition and in one event at Westside High School. Bella McAtee competes in such events as Entertainment, Extemp,  and Impromptu Speaking. 

New to the team is freshman Kinsley Knief. Knief commented that she “ joined Speech because I like talking, and I’m not afraid to talk in front of other people. So far speech has been really fun and an uplifting experience.” Knief participates in Persuasive Speaking.

The  Speech Team looks forward  to the next meet at Millard West High School on Saturday, Jan. 28th. Soon after, the team will compete at Conference at Malcolm High School.
