As the 2024-2025 school year winds down and the graduating class prepares to turn the tassel, seniors are reflecting on their journeys and offering heartfelt advice to those just beginning — or approaching the final stretch — of their high school careers.
High school is a time of growth, discovery, and unforgettable memories. But if you ask the Class of 2025, they’ll tell you it moves faster than you think.
“It goes by so fast,” said senior Mackenzie Jenson. “Make the most of every opportunity and memory.” That sentiment was echoed by Jord’N Sweeney (12), who noted, “It goes faster than all of your other years.”
For students entering high school, the transition can be overwhelming, but seniors say it’s important to keep an open mind and dive into the experience. “Try everything,” said Quaid Nebel (12). “You never know what you might end up loving.”
Beyond extracurriculars and academics, students also emphasized the value of authenticity and kindness in a small school environment. “Be true to yourself and other people,” advised Colin Horst (12). “Don’t be afraid to say what’s up to people and be kind — kindness in a small school goes a long way. One nice thing you say to someone can make their whole day and make them remember you in a positive light.”
Looking ahead to senior year, many students are encouraging rising seniors to savor the moments and think ahead. “Take it slow and make memories,” Easton Osborn said. Senior Noah Lester added a more practical piece of advice: “Take an internship if you can.”
Perhaps the most reflective advice came from Andy Isla (12), who encouraged both new and veteran students to appreciate the journey. “Time flies, enjoy it,” he said. “But when it’s here, don’t be sad about it. Grow up and be ready to begin actual life.”
Whether you’re walking into high school for the first time or gearing up for the final lap, the message is clear: embrace every moment, be yourself, and leave a positive impact. Because before you know it, you’ll be the one giving advice.
