The time has come for the Class of 2026 to trade in their jerseys for diplomas. As seniors prepare for the transition, we asked them to reflect on their athletic careers, and what it meant to them. From the highest competitions to little interactions, they will carry these memories of their favorite sport moments forever. For many, the goal in their sport was to make it to the top and reach their full potential.
Tyler Daly said he will never forget the feeling of reaching that level. He describes winning the high jump State title as “unreal” and a moment of pure happiness for him. Sometimes the presence of intense rivalry provided the greatest victories.
Shaylla Hobbs referenced the Soccer team’s Conference Championship win against Ralston as one of her favorite moments.
Gavin Spencer vividly recalled his adrenaline from scoring an important goal in the semifinals against Prep to help secure the team’s win.
The football field served as a place for many of the most memorable moments of the year. Marek Miller kept it brief and fun, responding that Lance’s return touchdown was a highlight that brought the crowd to its feet.
For others, the emotional part of the game mattered most. Cashton Porter cherished the atmosphere of senior night, while Samuel Smith found himself reflecting on the time he had with the program, walking onto the field with the kids on youth tonight and thinking, “That was me eight years ago. It was a full circle moment.”
While the scoreboard matters, the relationship built on the sidelines lasts longer and creates bonds for a lifetime. Isabel Bowen said she will miss the annual preseason soccer scavenger hunt most of all. “It brings everyone together it never fails to make memories,” she noted. “ I’m going to miss it more than ever once we graduate.”
Similarly, track and softball players found joy in the success of their teammates. Reese Lingle shared two standout moments: finishing a hurdle race just .01 seconds apart from her teammate Maddie Romans, so they could medal together, and her powerhouse duo with Savanna on the softball field and “hitting right next to each other meant when I got on base. She’d hit a home run to bring us both home.” As these athletes move onto their next chapters, they leave behind a legacy of teamwork, grit, and unforgettable players.
Congratulations to all of our senior athletes.
