As the school year winds down and graduation approaches, seniors are beginning to look back on their time at Platteview High School and the lessons they’ve learned along the way. What once felt like a long journey is now becoming memories, and many students are taking time to reflect on how much they’ve grown since freshman year. From friendships to challenges to new experiences, high school has shaped each senior in a different way. When reflecting on what advice they would give to their younger selves, many seniors shared messages centered around confidence, perseverance, and making the most of every opportunity.
John Masters Alvarez encouraged others to focus less on outside opinions, saying, “Don’t worry about what others think of you.” His advice reflects the importance of being yourself and not letting fear of judgement hold you back.
Anna Miller shared a similar message of encouragement: “Try new things and don’t give up.” Whether that’s joining activities, making new friends, or stepping outside of your comfort zone, high school is full of opportunities for growth and discovery.
As the year comes to an end, students are also saying goodbye to Lorenzo Cancian, who will be returning to Italy after graduation. Lorenzo reflected on his high school experience by saying, “It doesn’t matter if you decide to do something or not. Take the risk. You might as well do it now rather than regret it later.” His words serve as a reminder to take chances and make the most of the time you have.
Other seniors also shared meaningful advice. Ace Baughman said, “Enjoy what you have. It doesn’t last forever, ” encouraging students to appreciate the present moments while they’re still here. Anthony Guerrero added, “Keep your head up no matter what and life will eventually change, ” emphasizing resilience and hope through difficult times.
As the school year wraps up, the Class of 2026 leaves behind advice, memories, and experiences that will continue to impact Platteview High School long after they graduate.
